Parks and Large Open Space

The parks make up some of the most significant places of the city.  They act as gathering places for large groups of people while also accomondating the private nature setting like above.  Central Park as well as the areas running along the riverfront are the only parks in the downtown area.  Along the riverfront there is a bike and pedestrian path that winds along the top of the steep Willamette river bank.
Central park is the main attraction for park lovers though.  While visiting, one can see children circling on their bicycles while some of the older park users seem content watching the activities at the park.  Along with a wide expanse of grass, there is also a playground, a gazebo in the park's corner which is great place to watch the rain fall on wet days, as well as plenty of trees to park oneself under. These parks make up some of the most important and most used spaces in the downtown area of Corvallis.

Above is a sketch of the riverfront park area.

Here is a map of Central Park in the downtown context.

Above is a section of Central Park near the gazebo and below is a blown-up plan of the park in it's context.
