Street SpacesThe canopy-like trees that line part of the sidewalks in Corvallis offer a great amount of protection from the hot afternoon sun while providing cover from rain during the other nine months of the year. The people of Corvallis and its visitors seem to love to gather around these areas of shade. The tall and leafy trees act as barriers between the busy and noisy traffic and the calmer sidewalks. These spaces are effective havens for people to rest and relax; they are nests in a tree of constant action. Spaces like this above, as well as new "bubble" sidewalks, have created a pedestrian paradise in downtown Corvallis. This diagram below refers to the picture and map
