starship-design: Various things

Greetings all:

I read the list of stars sent by Lee Parker, and have some comments.

Some stars, mostly the K-class stars, are too young to have much in
their systems. Others, like procyon, are dying stars. Sirius is probably
not a good destination, because it won't last for long, and its too
young, not to mention the tidal pull exerted by the white dwarf
companion. 

Now that atmospheric data I requested: anything? Pressure, composition?
This is important.
