Veretski Pass, Beall Hall, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR. (Klezmer Music from Eastern Europe) 8 p.m., $12 general admission, $8 students and seniors.
From Mark Levy: "Veretski Pass combines the power and energy of Old World music with a modern sensibility, creating a sound that is both deeply respectful of its roots and, at the same time, makes you want to dance in the aisles. The trio performs a collage of dance suites from Moldavia and Bessarabia; Jewish melodies from Poland, Romania, and Ukraine; Hutzul wedding music from Carpathian Ruthenia; and Rebetic aires from Asia Minor, seamlessly integrated with original compositions." Veselo Folk Dance Festival, Vet's Club, Eugene, OR. Joe Graziosi teaches Greek dances on the Club's springy wood floors. The Bay Area band "Balkalicious Fire Drive" provides live music on Saturday night. All the info:
