The Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center is a recently restored 1895 warehouse in the Pearl District of Porltand. Owned by Ecotrust, the 70,000 sq. ft. building was renovated using green techniques, providing, among other things, a '20% energy savings achieved via efficient windows, fixtures and ventilation system.'
This case study is the product of a Vital Signs seminar at the University of Oregon, Department of Architecture. The Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center was brought to our attention because of the recent Gold LEED certification, the first historic building to earn this title in the United States. |

We chose to investigate the northeast corner of the building that houses the Ecotrust Office on the 2nd floor and the Certified Forest Products Council Office (CFPC) on the 3rd floor. The spaces are relatively similar in floor area, but differ in ceiling height. | |||||||||||||||
