This assignment is intended to familiarize students with the land use hearing process. One way to gain exposure to how land use decisions are made is to attend a planning commission meeting.
Your assignment is to attend a meeting and provide a summary of the meeting including:
- What items were on the agenda?
- What procedure did the commission use in hearing cases?
- What types of land use decisions were made (if any)?
- How were the decisions made?
- What role did the public play in the meeting?
- How effective do you think the process was?

Your summary should be in the form of a 2-4 page memorandum to me. Assignments are due in class on Thursday, February 14.
