THE CANADIAN-UNITED STATES PARTNERSHIP
Canada and the United States have many things in common, and a forum on the Canadian-U.S. partnership is planned. This truly is an international program with approximately one half of the participants from Canada. The interchange of ideas, the way we do business, and the fellowship between the administrators from Canada and the United States is an educational experience.
TRAVELING TO CANADA U.S.
citizens do not need to obtain an international driver's license to drive in Canada. Your valid U.S. license is good for trips in Canada as long as you are a visitor and actually reside in the U.S. Visas are not required for U.S. visitors entering Canada for stays up to 180 days. You will, however, need (1) proof of your U.S. citizenship such as (a) your U.S. passport or (b) original or certified copy of your birth certificate and photo identification. A driver's license or Social Security card is not valid proof of citizenship. All U.S. citizens entering Canada from a third country must have a valid passport.
CONFERENCE CENTER LOCATION
The Haven is an ideal site for our administrators. We will be utilizing eight modern style homes located on picturesque Gabriola Island, a twenty minute ferry ride from Nanaimo. The Haven has over nine acres of beautiful waterfront property which include: • Comfortable accommodations • Fully equipped gymnasium • Indoor swimming pool • Easy access from the mainland or Vancouver Island. Despite the excellent facilities and surroundings, we will adhere to our regular academy schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a late afternoon break. Please do not confuse this area with Cancun because in early March you can usually expect inclement weather.
ARRIVING BY AUTOMOBILE:
The easiest access to Gabriola Island for most coming from the U.S. is to cross into Canada at the Blaine, U.S. border crossing North of Bellingham. Once in British Columbia drive to the city of Delta (approximately 20 miles from the border) and take the Tsawwassen ferry to Duke Point (two hours), Vancouver Island. From Duke Point it is approximately eight miles to the ferry terminal in Nanaimo, B.C. Take the Gabriola Island ferry, which is a 20 minute ride. More details on further directions later or check B.C. Ferries ON LINE www.bcferries.com
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUs)
