Description of Work

The UO expects the design effort to begin with a brief (45 to 60 day) but intensive phase that combines master planning and conceptual design. During that process, the Design Advisory Group and the architects will explore various ways of achieving the program goals within the context of current and future needs. The planning effort will take into account nearby residence halls and other programs, site opportunities, programmatic desires (such as living-learning, renovation, etc.), and various approaches to design concepts. Methodology will be determined during contract negotiation, but it may include design charrettes, design advisory group meetings, open houses, and Campus Planning Committee meetings.

A design concept that has been developed and approved by the DAG and by University Housing will be forwarded to the UO Vice Presidents and to the Campus Planning Committee for approval, after which the project will proceed with:

a) re-stating the program and developing the design concept into a schematic design with additional design principles as needed;
b) obtaining approval of the Campus Planning Committee and the UO administration of that schematic design;
c) working with the DAG and other elements of the UO through the design development phase;
d) developing construction documents, bidding the project, and assisting the UO during construction with observation, approvals, and field questions
