1. Setting the view

The artist starts by defining the major edges of the room.  Finding the correct angles of the room edges to the horizon starts the drawing with a solid 3D framework.

The diagonal edges of this box should converge into a vanishing point at eye-level. Because the edges change according to viewpoint, the artist must keep a steady position.
