This is an excellent mulched trail for a beginning family ride. The trail is wide enough to ride two abreast. Park at the small parking area on the Deception Creek road (Road 5850) and ride the "B" loop first since it is flat. Upon returning to the parking area, ride left on the pavement then turn right, south, on the paved road. This road goes behind the ranger station and you pass a small house on the left. Go around the wooden guard rail and continue on the mulched trail. The map shows two ways to go shortly after passing the wooden guard rail; the first trail right is the main loop. The second makes a slightly longer loop and ties into a nice trail through the woods to the LaDuke road, road 5852. This woods trail can be easily missed, since your are riding right and trail takes a sharp left of the main loop. You will ride up, or perhaps push your bike, up some steep, but short, pitches in the trail.

Caution: This is a fitness trail, and you may meet hikers, walkers and/or joggers and they have the right-of-way. Be fair and share.

If this little trail gets your juices up consider a ride to Westfir, see the covered bridge and take a moment to visit the lodge across the street.

Also, if you have 4-6 hours to spare, start from the parking area, grind up Deception road until you reach Road 2102, coast downhill on it to Hill Creek Reservoir, turn left, North, on Road 21 to Hwy 58 and ride through Oakridge back to the parking lot.
