Conclusion

The amount of heat loss by evaporation (4,882,370 BTU lost per day) is about 80% of the 6,046,875 BTU/day that the heater puts into the pool. The remaining 20% of energy is lost through convection, conduction, or through the water transfer system. Thus, our hypothesis was not correct.

A more comprehensive study of the pool over an extended period of time (several months to a year) would give a more accurate picture of how heat is lost from the pool.
