Information on the Undergraduate Council (UC)

The Undergraduate Council (UC) has 10 elected faculty members: 5 members from CAS (1 each from humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, and 2 at-large), and 5 members (1 each) from the professional schools and colleges with undergraduate programs. The Undergraduate Council is charged with reviewing, evaluating, and enhancing the quality of the university's undergraduate program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Nominees must be members of the voting faculty. No two persons from the same department in CAS may serve at the same time. Thus no person from Chemistry, Economics, or Mathematics may be nominated. The term of office is three years, June 16, 2005 - June 15, 2008.

The Committee on Committees and secretary, with help from the senate, will fill out the ballot if an insufficient number of nominees is received by the secretary. The secretary is instructed by faculty legislation to remove from nomination persons who do not qualify under the rules established by the faculty.

Membership in recent years:

Positions open for '05-08: CAS - 1 position from the Humanities and 1 at large position (not from Chemistry, Economics, or Mathematics); Professional Schools and Colleges - 1 from Music and 1 from Allied Arts and Architecture.
