The Alder Street Quintet was formed sometime in the late 60s — nobody can remember the exact year — when I lived on Alder Street. Almost immediately, we began to rehearse at Caroline Boekelheide's house on Elk Drive, but the name stuck. Over the years, the personnel of the Alder Street Quintet have changed, so now I'm the only remaining member of the original group still playing with it. Still, I think it's fair to bill us as "the oldest established permanent floating woodwind quintet in Eugene."
Here are some materials from the group taken in connection with performances in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012. The players in the 2007 picture are Pam Feree, Kevin Findtner, Charles Wright, Marian Sparks and Holly Spencer. Mari Hiner was our oboist in 2008 and 2009. Our personnel have changed a number of times over the years, but we're still actively performing.
