Wright Costa Rica Pictures

These are some of the pictures we took during our visit to Costa Rica in January 2012. Before setting out on our tour with Country Walkers we spent a day in and around San Josˇ.

The collection San Josˇ and La Paz contains pictures of plants in the gardens of the Ramada Herradura hotel, where we stayed, together with pictures taken on the way to and at La Paz, a sort of zoo in the cloud forest.

Mountains contains pictures from the first couple of days with the tour group in the Talamanca range at elevations around 9000–10,000 feet, discovering the local culture and terrain as well as hunting—sometimes with as many as four guides—for the resplendent but elusive quetzals. The search paid off, as the pictures show.

Playa Ballena has shots from the next few days, based on the Pacific coast at Uvita but exploring farther northwest as well. Henry, who's credited with spotting the sloth, was our outstanding driver through this part, as well as in the mountains.

Corcovado contains pictures from our stay at Casa Corcovado on the Osa Peninsula, accessible only by small boat. We saw a number of animals on the tour, particularly in this region, but except for the sloths they tend not to stay put long enough to get their pictures. Still, these shots give a sample.

The tour was well designed and our guides, Marco and Onik, were outstandiing.

We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures. If you'd like the original high-resolution versions of any of them, just ask.

Navigation is fairly easy. Click on any small picture to get it larger, then click on the forward and back arrows to go through the lot. There's a sort of "home" icon next to the arrows to get back to the thumbnails, and from there you can click near the top to get back to this page.
