Dear Peter, Those titles look OK to me. We will probably give the implementation
paper a better title, but haven't done so yet. As to the question whether
they are better as motions or resolutions, I leave that to you, Gwen, and
the Rules Committee. Do you want me to give formal notice of motion on
March 8th when I deliver the interim report? Wayne

Memo TO: The Senate Budget Committee
Memo FROM: Peter B Gilkey (UO Senate President 1999/2000)
Memo RE: Notice of Motion
Dear Senate Budget Committee:
Nathan Tublitz has informed me that the Senate Budget Committee plans
to present 3 different documents to the UO Senate at the special meeting
to be held 29 March 2000 (Room 177 Lawrence, 1500-1700). He also informs
me that he wants each document "approved" by the UO Senate. The cleanest
way to do this seems to be to have 3 different motions. I have therefore
tentatively assigned them the following numbers
-
US9900-12 Motion to approve the statement of principles from the Senate
Budget Committee
-
US9900-13 Motion to approve the final version of the Senate Budget Committee
White Paper
-
US9900-14 Motion to approve the document from the Senate Budget Committee
regarding implementation
Absent email to the contrary, I will assume this is what is desired, set
up the agenda for the 29 March 2000 meeting accordingly, and distribute
it with the packet I produce to the UO Senate next Wednesday 8 March 2000.
(If you don't like the "titles", let me know soonest).
Nathan also indicated that the actual TEXTS of the documents would
be available by 15 March 2000. When they are available, I will ask the
Senate Rules Committee to consider them and get back to me as expeditiously
as possible with their report. I am therefore copying this memo to the
SRC and also secretary of the Senate Gwen Steigelman.
