Dear Peter:
The Senate
ad hoc committee on committee restructuring wishes to formally inform
you that we plan to present our findings to the Senate in the form of a
motion at the May 10th Senate meeting. In advance of this, we wish to present
a notice of motion at the April meeting.
Report of the Senate Rules Committee: The motion is properly phrased
and submitted. There are no procedural errors in its format. The
motions, basically, deal with a restructuring plan of the University Committee
system and amendments to the By-laws concerning that structure. There
is no direct fiscal impact from these changes.
This committee was created by Senate President Gilkey at the direction
of the Senate Executive Committee on Thursday 30 September 1999. The members
were Dave Hubin, Jeremy Grzybowski, Randall McGowen, Ann Tedards,
and Nathan Tublitz (chair), The charge to the committee was: "This committee
should evaulate the current University committee structure with a goal
determining which committees should fall under the purvue of the faculty
and report to the Senate rather than to the administration."
