Reading Response Guidelines for
Group Presentation Assigned Reading

Each class day between February 19 and February 26, one or two groups will make their group presentation.  Prior to these presentations, reading for each will be assigned by the groups.  While you will need to read the essays each day for both groups, you will only write one reading response.  Which one you will write will be determined in the previous class meeting.

As each group will assign 3-4 essays from the section it selects, the form of the reading response will have to be different from those you have done so far.  For these group reading responses, for each of the essays assigned by a group, write a “brief summary in the form of one coherent paragraph” (B&B, p. 45).  These brief paragraphs (3-4 total paragraphs in all) should include the author’s name, the title of the essay, the author’s thesis and/or main idea, and the reasons the author gives in support, one paragraph for each of the group’s assigned essays.  Add a paragraph either prior to the summary paragraphs or following them that addresses the issue in general. You may use this paragraph to address the issue overall.

While these reading responses should be brief, you may need more than one page; two should be the maximum.  Use a standard font, no smaller than 10 pt., no larger than 12 pt.  You need not use MLA format, but do be sure to put your name on your assignment.
