Planning Analysis:
Assignment #2: Technical Writing
and Data Reduction

Today’s
class focused on writing effective technical memos and reports (among
other things). This assignment will give
you a chance to apply some of these writing ideas to a short analysis.
The assignment is described in Problem #24 on page 185 of Patton
& Sawicki. Your response should be in the form of a memo to the Ambrosia County Board
of Commissioners and should be no longer than three pages. You should:
- Define the problem using the data provided
- Organize the data in a meaningful way (text, tables, charts, etc)
- Identify possible courses of action (alternatives)
- Recommend the next steps based on your first-cut analysis
The assignment is worth 5 points and is due in class on
Wednesday,
October 20.
