Intrusive contact of Sierran Granodiorite (tan, below) into overlying meta-volcanic rocks, Southern Sierra Nevada, CA.  Note the irregular nature of the contact.  In fact, a small sill can be seen extending from the main intrusive body into the country rock a bit left-of-center.
