Instructions to artist (including "legend / key")

This supplement involved creating a set of graphs similar to the existing ones in this module. There is a complication, the chronological lines in the charts provided are not consistent so we will need to combine the maps that roughly have the same time frames ( Graph 1 "Dated Shipwrecks" and Graph 2 "Lead Pollution" 1,000BC-1500AD; Graph 3 "Wood Remains" and Graph 7 "Femur Length" 0-450AD; Graph 5 "Animal Bone-Italy" and Graph 6 "Animal Bone-West. Europe" 550BC-750AD). Specifically we will want three buttons, each one labeled as noted, and then the option to overlay the charts.

Section 1
Title:

Frame 1:
Caption: Shipwrecks/ Lead Pollution
Use map inventory numbers: EU08-Shipwrecks EU08-LeadPollution

Note to Artist: Button should read "Trade and Mining"

Shipwrecks indicate commercial activity and strength of meritime trade relations.

The higher the lead content, the greater the mining and industrial activity.

Frame 2:
Caption: Femur Length/Wood Use
Use map inventory numbers: EU08-FemurLength -- EU08-WoodRemains

Note to Artist: Button should read: "Nutrition and Economic Prosperity"

The lengthing and the shortening of the femur suggests changes in the general health and nutrition of a population, the longer the femur, the better the nutrition.

The changing rate of wood use suggests changes in economic prosperity as measured by construction activity.

Frame 3:
Caption: Animal Bone, Italy and Europe
Use map inventory numbers: EU08-AnimalBone-Italy EU08-AnimalBone-Europe

Note to Artist: Button should read: "

The increase in animal bone assemblages indicates larger amount of meat consumption throughout the Empire and generally larger, meatier livestock.
