Re: sac-class: LCC task force minutes and revised outline
Lori,
The minutes look good to me.
Regarding the section in "Style guidelines for drafting
material", I though it might be useful for people to see the
formatting guidelines we used for the LCSH workshop. I found them in my
notes from years ago, and thought I'd post them here just FYI:
[snip]
- Blanks (as in indicator positions) will be represented by _
(underscore symbol)
- Font will be arial (which is what is needed for good PDF conversion
and display)
- Font size will be 12 pt.
- All titles and acronyms will be referred to in their full form the
first time mentioned in a module and can be abbreviated thereafter in the
same module.
- Full forms of titles will be presented in italics, with every
significant word capitalized.
- Quotation marks will be used:
- Following standard conventions, as outlined by the Chicago Manual
of Style
- When referring to section within a section
- When setting off jargon or colloquial expressions
- Bullets will be round, solid bullets
- Bold will be used for:
- Section headers
- Emphasis to increase visibility
- MARC 21 will be represented with a space between the two elements
- MARC coding will be used when appropriate
- When MARC coding is not appropriate, headings and subheadings will be
represented as:
[main heading] – [free floating]
[heading] – [subdivision]
with two dashes in between the elements and the entire heading in
bold
- The first line of text will always be flush with the left margin
- Indentation will be used to set off large sections of quoted material
and examples
- 5XX, 6XX, 4XX, etc. will use capital XX’s
- Left and right margins will be set at 1.25 inches
Also I recall your suggestion during the meeting that we try to keep
track of good examples as they come up in our everyday work, for possible
use in the workshop. I though that was a good idea.

Hi everyone,
I have written up draft minutes from our meeting in Chicago and also
revised the draft course outline based on our discussions. Both
documents are available on our web page:

Please take a look at the draft minutes and let me know if you have any
corrections. Look over the revised outline as well and see if that
reflects the changes we discussed in our meeting. Once we are OK
with the shape of the outline, I'll ask for your preferred sections to
work on.
