Re: sac-class: initial course outline
I would be happy to prepare a brief ppt. presentation on (3) History and
development of the LC classification. Lois

Hi everyone - here's what I've come up with to incorporate ideas about
the LC classification course outline. I don't consider it final by any
means -- we may find that we want to rearrange some of the sections, or
further develop some areas. There are some questions noted in the
outline, as you'll see. But I want to get this out today so we can move
forward. We can continue discussion about this on the list and also in
Chicago, but this should be sufficient to get us started.
I've incorporated some details (sub-topics) from an outline that Bruce
developed for training his staff on the N schedule. He has sent me an
electronic version of his outline and I'll send that in a separate message.
I'd like to have a few people start drafting some content for specific
sections before ALA. I'll do one section. If you're interested in
working on something right away, please let me know what sections are of
interest to you. If you're unsure of how to begin at this point, it's
fine to wait and not volunteer for any sections right now. The process
should be clearer once we have some draft material to review and
discuss. I'll give some more details about how to proceed once I have a
few volunteers.
Here's the outline, incorporating ideas that were shared.

goals & overview of course

3. History and development of LC classification
4. Outline of LC classification
