Project Development Process - Phase Overview

The project development process used by the Interactive Media Group is exemplary of many standard processes used by interactive agencies and university new media centers around the country. Although the steps or phases which make up these types of processes are given many different names, they all come down to basically the same thing - Requirements Gathering/Needs Analysis, Instructional, Information and Visual Design, Development, Testing, Implementation and Follow-up.

Discovery & Analysis

The Discovery and Analysis phase focuses on translating project goals into measureable results, determining the system and/or pedagogical problems to be solved, challenging assumptions regarding your project or processes, validating and mediating content, examining target demographics, and building user profiles.

Visualization

After clearly defining your project's plan, the creation of the visual and technological architectures can begin. During the Visualization phase, we target your needs and design intuitive and engaging user-centered interfaces, and flexible, scalable technology systems. We also focus our attention toward usability testing and evaluating the responses of your users. Taking the time to conduct these tests and listen to users' concerns ultimately leads to a highly functional, user-driven project.

Development

The Development phase in our process focuses our attention towards building the actual project components. From buidling an instructional CD-ROM using audio and video resources to creating web-based interactive courseware, our team delivers highly functional and engaging solutions.

Testing & Deployment

Throughout project development, our team is strongly committed to ensuring the quality, usability and stability of your project. We run your project through a series of quality assurance stages, ensuring all components meet estabished project goals, all issues and "bugs" are resolved, and performance levels meet expectations, before finally releasing the project to its audience. In addition, we develop project tutorials when needed to assist faculty with the ongoing updates and maintenance of their project.

Follow-Up

We believe that great relationships begin -- and continue-- with great communication. During the Follow-Up phase, our team critically examines the project's successes and development future. We provide a descriptive post-launch analysis of the process's successes, difficulties, and opportunities for future growth and improvements.
