This
scan of a photocopied picture gives an idea of how ethereal the A-frame
looked when first covered with sheet plastic. "I had heard that there were 'back lands' available. Shawn Elwood and I got in our big green and white Chevy Carryall van (which I eventually, after a fashion, gave to the community) We looked at Hood River, the Dalles, went south the see the Chetco River and didn't find anything there. At Sixes River we found Elephant Rock (Rachel and Clifford who had already been there a year) and got invited to stay at the Eddie Mine. Marco had a piano to tune there. We were also invited to stay at the 80 Acres but I was still expecting my wife Allison to come and didn't think she'd want to land in the midst of a commune..." -barry |
