The subject matter of this course deals with the fundamental principles of geology.  Emphasis will be placed on the dynamic processes occurring within the interior of the planet, and the ways in which these processes affect the surface geology.  Lectures will supplement readings in the text according to the following approximate schedule:

EXAMINATION AND GRADING POLICY:
The grading in this course will be based on performance in both the classroom and the laboratory.  For the classroom/lecture component, evaluation will consist of two exams and 6 homework assignments/problem sets. Both exams will be "closed-book, in-class" exams. The two exams will each count 30% of the final grade, the combined homework assignments will count 20%, and the cumulative laboratory score will count 20%.
