On tour with the All-Stars was the comedic duo of Al Schacht and Nick Altrock. Their baseball slapstick became fully established during the 1924 World Series while both were coaching for the Washington Senators
and was to last through 1936. Ironically, while the pair was enjoying success on the field they absolutely hated each other off the
field and for many years never spoke to one another except to work out their routine and perform. Only on Altrock's deathbed in
1965 did they reconcile. When some of the games became a bit boring their humor kept the crowds entertained and often was what
people remembered the most about the tour. |
