COURSE DESCRIPTION
EQUIPMENT:
Students will practice drawing and keep visual notes in a 9" x 12" sketchbook.
An 18" x 24" drawing pad of newsprint or inexpensive sketch paper will be
used
for larger studies. Students can use their choice of pencils, pens and stick
media for drawing, and can share more expensive materials such as watercolors.
Students should have access to imaging software, and 2D drawing and 3D modeling software. In class we will use Photoshop, Illustrator and FormZ to enhance hand drawings and to generate graphics to work over by hand.
PAPER
9 x 12 sketchbook
18 x 24 pad
12" or greater roll of white tracing paper
140 lb. water color paper or block (Arches cold press)
PENCILS AND PENS
Your choice of drawing pens, pencils (soft lead, 314, Prismacolors) or sticks (Conte, charcoal or prisma)
WATERCOLOR SUPPLIES
Medium size (#12) sable or synthetic sable brush
Sponge & soft towel
2 unbreakable water containers
masking tape
tubes of watercolor paint: cobalt or ultramarine blue, alizarin crimson, gamboge aka Indian yellow (transparent)

Palette or paint box
OTHER

Kneaded eraser (try to avoid using erasers)
