Design Workshop memory allocation formula
182 Studios

This is the formula to figure out how much memory should be allocated to Design Workshop for opening a file of a specified file size.

First, find out the file size of the file you would like to open by either highlighting that icon and selecting File>Get Info when the file is closed or by looking at the file size in list view of the folder the file is in.

Second, with the DW application closed, highlight the application icon and select File>Get Info. The minimum size should match the suggested size. The preferred size should be set as follows:

10MB to open any file

1MB for the first 100k

1MB for each additional 100k

This means that if a file is only 100k you need only set the memory to 11MB. 200k = 11MB and so on.
