The Jewish community of Mir is no longer and
will never again arise.

Therefore, we should create a memorial and a tombstone in its memory, which will give a more accurate picture and a detailed understanding of the uniqueness of such an important Jewish community, about its famous personalities, institutions, associations, economic life and its extraordinary personalities.

Hopefully this memorial will light the candle in our hearts, which will awaken our desire to live in its atmosphere, so that we will be worthy bearers of its memory.

The Organization (Immigrants of Mir)

This organization undertook the important and historical task of publishing this book according to the decision of the general meeting which took place in Tel Aviv on
August 27, 1946.

There is very much work ahead of us until we will be able to publish such a book and only with diligence and spiritual energy, literary and material help from all our Mirrers and neighboring areas and also those who lived there. We were educated and spent many years there, with this help we will, with God's help, be able to publish this book.

We have already started the work and we managed to receive important material and photographs about the history of the community, from the time when it was founded until the last day of its existence, about the life of its inhabitants and institutions. However, in order to complete the picture, we require the help of each person who possesses information and pictures of Mir as well as help from those who can remember and record the history of the life in Mir, as well as the various personalities who lived there.

This book should be a reference and reminder for us and for future generations.

This will be published in two languages ​​in Hebrew and Yiddish.

The collection of all the material and the publication of the book with the help of an acquaintance who is an editor and publisher has been entrusted to the hands of a fellow citizen of Mir, the chairman of the association, Mr Nissan Gardi (Gorodeisky) who is totally committed to the cause with heart and soul. Therefore, everyone is obliged to supply him with relevant material.

All refugees and survivors are hereby requested to submit their testimony in writing in any language. The former residents of Mir and surrounding areas are asked to find out everything about the refugees and hand it over to the editors with the signature of the witness, as well as his address.

We have selected an honorable editorial of well-known personalities from our town:
Zalman Rubashov, one  of the leaders of the Histadrut, and the editor of the  “Davar’’ newspaper. 
The judge in Tel-Aviv; Tz. Harkavy
Yehoshua Mordechai Rosenblum, a well-known philanthropist and a  Zionist.
Ephraim Shachor, a well-known businessman.

We will consult with all of them in all matters relating to the edition. The editorial board will consist of the following members:
The brothers Nissan and Natan Gardi, Samuel Margalin, the writer Tsinowitz, Miriam Schaefer and Simcha Reznik.

In this section, every Mir resident and residents from surrounding areas will be able to submit a remembrance to his parents, relatives and friends who perished in the last Nazi war and was not given a Jewish burial. The names, pictures, birthdays and dates of birth will be recorded

k) In every country a Mir committee must be established.
Whoever will take on this task will be responsible for accumulating all the material from residents of Der Mir and its surrounding areas and sending it to the editor at the previously mentioned address.
