Mineralization and fibers in fractures.
Fibrous mineral growths in fractures generally indicate the direction
in which the fracture walls opened with respect to each other.
Quartz-filled fractures. Note that the fibers are perpendicular
to the fracture walls.
Quartz fibers in sigmoidal tension gashes in slate. Sigmoidal
shape of fractures indicates overall dextral shear.
