Take Back the Night

The Take Back the Night March began in 1976 when over 2000 women from 40 nations marched together to protest the ways in which violence impacts the lives of women worldwide. Every year since that first gathering, women around the world have been marching through the streets of their communities to demand an end to the violence and to celebrate those who have survived.

Over twelve years ago, Sexual Assault Support Services and the University of Oregon Women's Center joined together to ensure that Lane County was a part of this worldwide movement. Since then we and over 300 people have gathered together every spring to take part in this international event. The rally, march and speak-out happens every year on the last Thursday of April.
