What is S.W.A.T.?

The Sexual Wellness Advocacy Team (SWAT) is a group of students committed to ending sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking at the University of Oregon. SWAT creates and facilitates workshops on consent, relationships, dating violence and intervening with friends. We use interactive facilitation styles including theater to create change at the UO. SWAT is a sex-positive program meaning we do not advocate for one type of commitment or sexual behavior over another. We also recognize that some students may choose abstinence. We advocate for mutual, informed, clear consent in all sexual relationships.

Our workshops incorporate elements of Theater of the Oppressed and other community-based theater techniques like documentary theater. We perform for residence halls, student groups, fraternities and sororities, classes, incoming students, and numerous other groups across campus.

SWAT has also provided consultation to peer educators at Eastern Washington University and Southwestern Oregon Community College.
