The School of Music began design of its $19.3 million project which renovated 15,000 gsf and added approximately 29,500 gsf of new construction to the MarAbel B. Frohnmayer Music Building. The project, designed by BOORA Architects, Portland, meets the immediate needs of the School for teaching, practice, rehearsal, recording, faculty studios, offices, and administration; it also allows for efficient future additions to the building. The project included needed utilities upgrades in the area and site development. Groundbreaking ceremonies took place on November 3, 2006. Construction began in April 2007 with completion in fall 2008. The School of Music re-occupied the building in December 2008. Formal dedication was held on March 6, 2009.
