2008-2009 Summer Coverage - Law

If you already purchased the annual or spring term coverage, you have coverage that extends until August 16, 2009. (Even if you are not taking summer classes or even if you have graduated.)

Health Center Access

The health insurance premium and the Health Center fee are two separate charges. Coverage under the University sponsored student health insurance plan does NOT automatically ensure access to the Health Center. It is possible for your health insurance coverage to continue longer than your eligibility to use the Health Center.

Options

Option A - Registered for summer class

The Health Center fee will automatically be billed with your tuition charges. You will have continued access to the Health Center. There is nothing further you need to do.

Option B - Not registered for Summer Semester & living in Eugene area

If you do not plan to register for class but were registered for Spring Semester, you must pay the University Health Center summer fee if you want to use the Health Center during the summer for services other than the Pharmacy.

Option C - You were not registered for Spring Semester

You are not eligible to pay the Health Center fee or use the Health Center other than the Pharmacy. You will have to obtain your medical care outside the Health Center. You have an annual $300 deductible for medical care received outside the Health Center (if it has not already been satisfied).

The Summer Health Center fee allows you to use the Health Center until August 16, 2009. The Health Center summer fee does not need to be paid UNTIL OR IF you want to use the Health Center. It usually saves you money to pay the Health Center fee because you avoid the $300 deductible that you must pay annually when you receive care or purchase prescriptions outside the Health Center.

Again be advised, use of the Health Center is dependent on your eligibility to pay the Health Center fee. When you are no longer eligible to use the Health Center, you must obtain your medical care outside the Health Center; regardless of whether you still have Student Health Insurance coverage.
