1.3 The University Senate reserves the right to declare an "Executive Session." At this time all non-Senators are required to leave the chambers. However, the "Executive Session" does allow the media to remain, but media representatives must promise not to compromise the details of the "Executive Session."

6.2.1 The University Senate declares itself in "Executive Session" when considering nominees for the Distinguished Service Award. The President of the Senate is authorized to request persons present at the time of the election of those to receive the Distinguished Service Award to refrain from making such names public until the University officially announces the names of the honorees.

6.2.2 The University Senate has established criteria for granting the honorary doctorate. Copies of these criteria are available from the Secretary. The Senate shall declare itself in "Executive Session" when considering nominees for this degree .
