I understand you are to be convener of the IAC. I am writing to you to let you know that the Senate Executive Committee has directed me to appoint Professor Margie Paris as one of the Senate representatives to the IAC; I am delighted to comply. The other Senate representative is former Senate President Jeff Hurwit. You indicated to me that it was customary to send a copy of the minutes of the IAC to the Senate President. I should be most grateful if these could be sent electronically as that makes their distribution to other interested Senators easier. You also indicated that you felt it would be better to have terms on the IAC which run three or possibly even four years rather than two and that this change was recommended by the outside review panel. As the IAC is an elected committee, this would require enabling legislation from the Senate. I have tentatively listed this change in length of term as an agenda item for the October meeting of the Executive Committee (1530 Wednesday October 27 Century Room E) which would mean it could come before the full Senate at the November meeting (1500 Wednesday November 10 in Pacific 123). Please let me know what the full IAC feels concerning this matter as soon as possible.
