MOVED to amend Motion US03/04-10 - To Enable the University
Assembly to Convene with Full Legislative Power as required by the University
Senate Enabling Legislation of March 1996, as follows:
CHANGE: (e) The Secretary of the Faculty shall send
timely notification of the meeting to all members of the University Assembly.
The notification shall remind recipients that they are Members of the Assembly
and that attendance at the Assembly Meeting may take priority over routine
obligations.
TO: (e) The Secretary of the Faculty shall send timely
notification of the meeting to all members of the University Assembly.
The notification shall remind recipients that they are Members of the Assembly
and that the University will be closed from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the day
of the meeting to facilitate attendance.

Fiscal Impact Statement
Passage of this amendment will have a positive fiscal impact on the rare occasions of an Assembly called by petition. The Office of the Dean of Administration has made the following minimal estimates of the costs of holding a meeting in spaces large enough to seat a quorum of the Assembly:
Student Recreation Building: $5,904
MacArthur Court: $6,950
Moshovsky Center: $9,800
In the event that a quorum is not obtained, these costs will recur should the attending Assembly members pass a non-debatable motion to adjourn to a meeting one week hence to obtain a quorum, as specified by Robert's Rules of Order. Closure of the University pursuant to the proposed amendment maximizes the likelihood that the cost of Assembly will be incurred only once for any petition.
