UO Philosophy Department Conference on the question:

What is Phenomenology?

Call for Papers

The call is open to University of Oregon philosophy

undergraduates, graduate students and faculty.

The purpose of this conference is to consider the meaning of phenomenology from a variety of perspectives.  All submissions should directly address the question: What is phenomenology?  This may be accomplished in a variety of ways: through considering its relation to other areas of philosophy or fields of inquiry, through emphasizing a particular philosopher, and/or historical accounts of how it has been understood.

Submissions should be either a five page prospectus or a completed paper of no more than ten pages.  Completed papers are strongly preferred.  Submit three copies of your paper or prospectus.  Do not include any identifying information on these copies, except whether you are an undergraduate, a graduate students or a faculty member.  Include a third piece of paper, folded, with your name, paper title, and contact information.  A box will be available on the front desk of the philosophy department the week of November 6, 2006.

Deadline December 4, 2006 @ noon.

The tentative date of the conference is January 27, 2007.
