The cost
of taking classes at the Cascades Campus depends on the number
of credits you take each term, and whether you are classified
as a resident or a nonresident for tuition purposes. IMPORTANT:
The residence classification rules for OSU Cascades are different
from Central Oregon Community College (COCC) rules. You should
not assume if COCC has classified you as a resident, that
OSU Cascades will also classify you as a resident. The residency
rules which apply to all four-year state universities in Oregon
can be found at: http://admissions.uoregon.edu/apply/resid.htm.
The schedule
of tuition and fees can be found
at:

Financial
Aid and Scholarships
If you
will need help in paying for your education, you should apply
for financial aid. Federal aid programs are financial assistance
for which you need to file the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal aid programs fall into three
categories, grants, work-study, and loans. Residents of Oregon
may also qualify for an Oregon Opportunity Grant administered
by the Oregon Student Assistance Commission.
If you
will be taking classes offered by more than one school, e.g.
the UO and COCC, you will need to coordinate your financial
aid with both schools because federal rules require that students
receive assistance from only one school, your "home school."
If you are admitted to one of the UO’s three Central Oregon
undergraduate degree programs, the UO becomes your home school
and financial aid will come from the University of Oregon.
UO financial aid counselors or the UO undergraduate advisers
in Bend can help you make arrangements to insure you receive
the full amount of aid that you qualify for. The first step
is to file the FAFSA and be sure to list UO as one of your
first six choices.
For
the 2003-04 academic year:
The FAFSA
is usually available by December for the following academic
year. Many types of funds are limited and may run out, so
applying by the priority deadline is important. The UO deadline
for priority consideration—the date that the Office of Student
Financial Aid must receive financial aid information from
the federal processor—is March 1, 2003. To allow enough time
for your application to be processed and transmitted to the
UO by our priority deadline, we encourage you to mail your
FAFSA to the federal processor by February 1, 2003. If you
have not completed your tax forms by that time, we suggest
that you use estimated figures.
You must
list the UO as one of your first six choices.
