Using Avaya Telephone Features

Abbreviated Dialing/Speed Calling

The Abbreviated Dialing/Speed Calling feature allows telephone users to dial local and long distance phone numbers, other extensions, and Feature Access Codes.   This is an option that needs to be requested though your departmental telephone Coordinator.  There is a $1.00 per month charge for each list.

Personal Lists contain numbers that an individual user calls most frequently, may contain up to 100 numbers and can not be accessed from other extensions. Either the user or Telecommunications can program/maintain each list.

Group Lists contain numbers that relate to a particular group of people, may contain up to 100 numbers and be accessed from all extensions given access rights to that list. The Departmental Coordinator will send information to Telecommunications listing all extensions who have access to a given list.

Uses can access up to three Abbreviated Dialing lists: one Personal list and two Group lists.

To Program Your Personal List

1. Listen for Dial Tone
2. Dial # 80, Listen for Dial Tone
3. Dial  1 (one), Listen for Dial Tone
4. Dial code number you assign (i.e. 1, 2, to 99)
5. Listen for Dial Tone
6. Dial in number including any access code (i.e. "9")
7. Dial # (i.e. press your # key)
8. Listen for confirmation of a Recall Dial Tone
9. Hang up or continue entering more codes.
   

To Place a Call Using Your Personal List

1. Listen for Dial Tone
2. Dial * 0 (zero), Listen for Dial Tone,
3. Dial code number (i.e. 1, 2, to 99)
4. Hear ringing or tone for your authorization code
5. Wait for answer.

To Program Group List (only one extension can administer the list)

1. Listen for Dial Tone
2. Dial # 80, Listen for Dial Tone
3. Dial 3 (three), Listen for Dial Tone
4. Dial code number (i.e. 00, 01, 02, to 99), Listen for Dial Tone
5. Dial number including any access code (i.e. "9")
6. Dial # (i.e. press your # key)
7. Listen for confirmation of a Recall Dial Tone
8. Hang up or continue entering more codes.
   

To Place a Call Using a Group List

1. Listen for Dial Tone
2. Dial * 6 , Listen for Dial Tone
3. Dial code number (i.e. 00, 01, 02, to 99)
4. Wait for answer or tone for your authorization code

On Single line phones: FLASH, RECALL, TAP, & R all indicate the same button. Any single line set without this button will have to use the Switchhook button instead.
