Three-Hinged Frame Behavior

(by Prof. Dr. Chris H. Luebkeman with Eric Ngai and Elton Ng)

This JAVA Applet illustrates the way in which geometric parameters effect the internal forces and external reactions of a three-hinged frame. Note the way in which the forces at the pinned supports change as the geometry of the frame changes. The length of the arrow represents the magnitude of the vector of the component or resultant of the reaction. The numerical data is also reflected in the screen.
