Lab 1: Introduction

These laboratory exercises are considered to be a critical part of the course. It is expected that every participant in the course will complete the exercises in a timely manner.

Every attempt will be made to guide and assist each individual through the exercises. Yet, these are considered to be opportunities for self-learning and exploration. The more effort put into the creative solution of each problem, the more that will be learned. If at any time there are questions or items which do not seem to be clear, it is the individual's responsibility to inquire.

These should be fun. They have enjoyed success on three continents, but as with everything, they could surely be improved. Please offer any suggestions for their improvement!!!!

Labs 2 and 3 will be completed in teams of four or six which will be assigned. The exact size depends upon the number in your section. Labs 4, 5, 6, and 9 will be completed as teams of two. Labs 7, 10 and 11 will be individual efforts. You will be responsible for the choice of a lab partner for all of the exercises except 2 and 3. The lab partners must have the same scheduled meeting time.

Each individual will conduct a case study analysis of one building. The requirements for this can be found at Lab 10. These requiremenst should be read and a building submitted to the instructor for approval on a first come-first served basis. The building for analysis can, but must not be, be selected from previously completed works within the Architectonics Studio Case Study Collection.
