When Shakespeare wrote Troilus and Cressida right after he wrote Hamlet, he was reacting to Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde, but also to the original Troy material presented by Homer in the Iliad and the Odyssey and modified by Virgil in the Aeneid and Dante in the Inferno. In this stream of influence, who do you think influenced him most? What do you think his goal was in presenting again ancient characters like Achilles, Hector, Agamemnon, etc.?
