Substance Abuse Prevention Program (SAPP) is a nationally recognized program designed to provide education and to increase awareness in the areas of alcohol and other drug prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. Participants may earn an Area of Concentration Certificate upon completion of 24 credits in approved substance abuse curriculum. Non-traditional students and working professionals are encouraged to enroll in SAPP evening or weekend courses and workshops. In 2000, SAPP became the national training center for BUSTED( Beginning Underage Successes Through Educational Diversion), a project aimed at decreasing underage drinking behavior by increasing awareness of alcohol risk factors. BUSTED is available to people over 18 years old who have been cited for one or more of the following alcohol offenses: (a) minor in possession, (b) furnishing, (c) allowing, or (d) selling. In service prevention, intervention, strategic planning, and community risk reduction workshops are available to schools, court staff, law enforcement, and community leaders who wish to address the issue of underage drinking.
