The University of Oregon Sailing Club was begun during the 1973-1974 school year as a part of the University's Club Sports program. Unfortunately no complete history of the team exists due to a janitor mistaking boxes of archives for trash.

The team has continued on at varying competitive levels since its creation. Now, UO Sailing is one of the top sailing programs in the Northwest.
