Robin Holmes, Vice President for Student Affairs
Jane DeGidio, a long-time University of Oregon staff member, passed away on Nov. 20. Jane began her service to UO in 1969 as a counselor. She held numerous positions including Dean of Students and director for the Office of Student Retention Programs before assuming the role of Associate Vice President for Student Academic Affairs in 2000 until her retirement in June 2001.
Vice President for Student Affairs Robin Holmes said, " We are truly saddened by Jane’s passing. She was a key advocate for and mentored hundreds of students over the years. Jane will be missed by many at the university who worked closely with her."
As a member of the Faculty Senate, Jane encouraged faculty to reach out to make connections with students who would be impacted profoundly by personal attention. In addition to her administrative and committee work, she also held a courtesy appointment in the College of Education.
