Course Description

An advanced exploration of tissue injury and repair. Topics include injury theory, tissue response to injury, physiology of pain,  wound healing mechanisms, repair, common pathologies and injury mechanisms. An introduction to basic orthopedic assessment techniques will be included in laboratory.  An  exploration of  the pathophysiology of  injury is emphasized along with therapeutic strategies and rationale when appropriate.

A Multimedia Intensive Course

This course utilizes the Blackboard course management system.  Announcements, assignments, supplementary materials and grades will all be posted on the Blackboard site.  Please check regularly.

In addition I will be using the Internet for much of our reading and supplementary material and laboratory demonstrations.  All students MUST have access to a computer and all of you will at any of the many computer labs available to students on campus.  Some 0f the content will include streaming audio and video and thus will be better viewed on a broadband high speed connection.  All of the U of O labs offer this feature as do major cable and DSL providers.  If you are having difficulty in accessing content, please see the instructor.
