Russian Language Program at the University of Oregon
The University of Oregon offers four
years of Russian language study, as well as such specialized
courses as
spoken Russian at the 100 and
200 level, RUSS 306, "Introduction
to Russian Literature," and Russian 309, "Russian
Through Theater." Advanced language courses focus
on learning Russian through film
and television, reading print
media, and other methods.
The language
program
is bolstered by the Russian Club, which puts on parties and
events
throughout the year. The program also participates in the annual
FLIS
(Foreign Language and International
Studies)
Day at Yamada Language Center, which introduces prospective
undergraduate
students to the many possibilities of studying
language
at the University. Yamada offers a venue for the study
of less
commonly taught languages, as well as resources for the
study
of languages taught at the University, and is very technologically-oriented.
