RESIDENCE HALLS
Service Overview
Recycling service includes the collection of glass, metals, plastic, drink
boxes, paper and newspaper.
- 7 dormitory-style residence hall complexes operated by UO Housing
- recycling sites serviced by foot and van crews
- residents deposit recycling at exterior sites (5 complexes) and interior
sites (2 complexes)
Foot crews:
- sort and centralize recycling from interior sites to centralized storage
areas
- maintain exterior collection area cleanliness and organization
- maintain signage and containers at recycling areas
- keep exterior cardboard collection containers organized
*Foot crew labor typically totals around 55 hours per week.
Van crews:
- pick up recycling from residence hall exterior collection areas
- pick up recycling from kitchens at loading dock areas
- record residence hall and kitchen recycling totals on weekly tally sheets
- transport paper recycling to Campus
Recycling Program warehouse
- transport glass, metals, plastic and drink box recycling to the BRING
Recycling Center

Telephone Book Recycling

ON-CAMPUS KITCHENS
Service Overview
Recycling service includes the collection of glass, metals, plastic, drink
boxes and low-grade paper.
- five on-campus kitchens operated by UO Housing
- four of 5 kitchens located within residence hall complexes
- recycling service includes kitchen and residence hall pick-ups upon
same visit
- kitchen staff responsible for sorting recyclable materials into containers
in loading dock areas
Van crews:
- pick up recycling from residence hall exterior collection areas
- pick up recycling from kitchens at loading dock areas
- record residence hall and kitchen recycling totals on weekly tally sheets
- transport paper recycling to Campus

OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING
Service Overview
Recycling services includes the collection of glass, metals, plastic,
drink boxes, paper and newspaper.
- family and graduate student housing
- Westmoreland, Spencer View, East Campus and East Campus Graduate Village
- over 800 students and student families
- residents bring recycling and trash to central waste stations at each
complex

Westmoreland
- located 3 miles west of the UO campus
- composed of 404 apartments and duplexes
- made up of neighborhoods, each with an exterior central recycling/waste
station (17 stations total)
- accepts glass, metals, plastic, drink boxes ("GMP" materials),
paper and newspapers for recycling at recycling stations
- accepts corrugated cardboard at 7 of 17 stations
- collects newspapers in laundry rooms for recycling (serviced by the
Eugene Mission)
- area office collects phone books and paper recycling of office staff
- on-site staff maintains corrugated cardboard recycling containers
- serviced by recycling van crews four times per week
Spencer View
- located 1/2 mile from the UO campus
- composed of 272 apartments
- made up of color-themed neighborhoods, each with an exterior central
recycling/waste station (11 stations total)
- accepts takes glass, metals, plastic, drink boxes, paper and corrugated
cardboard for recycling
- collects paper and plastic laundry supply containers in laundry rooms
- on-site staff responsible for emptying laundry room recycling to central
stations and maintaining corrugated cardboard containers
- serviced by recycling van crews four times per week

East Campus
- located just east of UO campus
- made up of four housing clusters each with one central recycling/waste
area:
- Moon Lee Court - 6 units
- Columbia Terrace - 10 units
- Moss Street Apartments - 6 units
- Agate Street Apartments - 20 units
- accepts glass, metals, plastic, drink boxes, paper and corrugated cardboard
for recycling
- serviced either by recycling van or bike crews twice per week

- made up of 72 studios and apartments, divided between two buildings
