Involvement

Campus Recycling was founded from a student grassroots effort and has continued to successfully evolve as such. Student involvement is the cornerstone of the Campus Recycling Program at the University of Oregon. Hiring full time classified staff to perform recycling duties, has been evaluated extensively. It was determined that students are a vital part of this organization and their involvement goes beyond performing a job. Students gain valuable applied experience from their involvement with the UO Campus Recycling Program. The Recycling Program is one of the largest employers of students on campus, while providing opportunities for leadership development, real world applications, mentoring and how to make things happen. Students have contributed greatly to the campus community while learning a good work ethic and networking skills. Many students leave the Campus Recycling Program and carry the knowledge and experience into their professional lives. Many students have taken the experience and ended up with successful positions in waste management and environmental coordination.

Campus Recycling offers paid student employment, internships, academic credit and volunteer positions.
